Anything that can be done, will be done. If someone really wants to attack a researcher, he will surely find a way to trace him and assault him.
If the State really wants to do something about it, they should catch and throw the assaulter into jail for 20 years for causing bodily harm. Such laws are yet another example of the state slowly but surely hacking at the roots of free speech.
